Contains the following types of materials: photographs, postcards, pencil drawings. Covers the following war: Korean War. Contains photographs of the following military units: 51st Signal Battalion, Telephone / Teletype Company (Co.), Eta-jima Special School. General description of the collection: The Richard A. Fleckenstein photograph collection consists of photos of the normal activities of a soldier (GI) and his buddies in a unit "behind the lines". Moving a tent, buildings, Korean villages, people and hired hands, Fleckenstein and his buddies and their surroundings were photos all taken by Fleckenstein or his buddies which comprise the bulk of this collection. Also represented are several photos of the Eta-jima Specialist School and Barracks in Japan and places visited by Fleckenstein while on rest and recuperation (R & R). There are a few family photos that he carried with him in Korea and a photo booklet featuring the arrival of troops home from Korea at Seattle, Washington. Sixteen pencil drawings show the layout of various tents and quonset huts and several cartoons. Also in this book is a folder containing the Christmas wrapping paper from packages he received while in Korea. The postcards are of scenes at Fort Knox and Louisville, Kentucky.
